After the grand success of Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Arjun Reddy, South Indian actress Shalini Pandey grabbed the limelight at the National level. She made her grand entry in Bollywood through 2022’s comedy-drama film Jayeshbhai Jordaar alongside superstar Ranveer Singh. Nowadays, she is a popular Indian actress with over 2 million followers on Instagram.

However, Shalini Pandey is now in the spotlight because of her recently released film Maharaj, alongside Junaid Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sharvari Wagh. Her role in the film is of a girl, Kishori, under the molestation of a self-proclaimed godman, Maharaj (Jaideep Ahlawat).

“I Did Not Realise the Impact”, Says Shalini Pandey

Playing Kishori in Maharaj, actress Shalini Pandey has appeared in various interviews lately. In a one-on-one conversation with Bollywood Hungama, she talked about her character in the film, who is in possession of the titular godman. According to her, when she read the script, she thought Kishori was naive and foolish. But after playing the character, she really felt anxious, especially in the rape scene of Charan Seva.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Shalini said, “When I actually did that scene with the Maharaj, the charan seva scene… till the time I actually did it, I did not realise what impact it had on me because I did the scene and suddenly, I went out and I told my team I don’t want to be in a closed room, I need time, I need some fresh air, I am getting a little anxious.”

Shalini Pandey added “Playing Kishori who is such a naive sweet… Initially, when I read it, I was like bevakoof hai yeh toh (she is stupid) but then I realised she is not stupid, she just doesn’t know any better. She was conditioned so much that she believed everything she was doing. When you feel and do it and think about it, it shatters you. Then you realise she is not stupid. I hope she knew that this was happening to her.”
